Latest update from Lindsay:
We were able to get the first shipment of cleaning supplies off to the coast in addition to more water. It was made possible by those who have contributed to the Harvey Heroes Fund: www.youcaring.com/harveyheroes
and driving teams lead by Matt Davey and Chad Owens. Those donations are going to the Galveston Chamber and Gina Spagnola, the group coordinating the efforts there. In total, more than 185 pallets of supplies have now been delivered.
There are still significant needs throughout the coast. The biggest continued need is in two areas: forklifts and cleaning supplies.
Forklifts are in desperate need at the supply centers being established. One particular area is the Santa Fe City shelter being managed by the Salvation Army as well as the Greyhound Racetrack in Galveston and in Rockport. Please let me know if you know of someone that can provide these as they are critical to offloading supplies as they arrive.
There has also been a request for a small trailer
- one that can be secured and locked. If you have one that can be used for a long period of time, please let me know.
The other need is cleaning supplies and masks. We will continue to purchase items (thank you Sam's Club, CostCo and Lowes) as money is available. We have drivers available through the week.
The last note I would make for the day is that the worst is not over. Several areas, Bolivar, Smith Point, and especially Port Arthur have sustained catastrophic damage. Many areas have yet to be accessed. We expect as those areas are reached, the need for basics like water will begin again.
Please let us know if you have any questions and especially if you have any resources that can be provided.
