History

The International Aloe Science Council Certification Program was born of necessity in the early 1980's. Due to abuse in the representation of the true amount of aloe vera in aloe products, either raw materials or in consumer products, the IASC formulated a plan to offer an independent certification program.

Building on a testing concept designed by member companies, the IASC developed the certification program to allow aloe growers, processors and manufacturers to submit their facilities and products to a series of rigorous tests and audit program, which, if they passed, would allow for the certification of aloe and aloe products and the display of the IASC authorized Certification Seal on products and literature.

The IASC developed the program to allow aloe growers, aloe processors, aloe manufacturers, and aloe marketing companies to have their products certified by the Council. Companies who use the IASC Certification Seal on their products and in their literature are assuring their customers:

  • Products are truthfully labeled.
  • Aloe vera in the product meets the IASC standards for aloe vera quantity and quality.
  • The aloe vera used in the product is sourced from a certified facility.

What The Seal Means To You And Your Customers

Attaining IASC Certification is a significant achievement. The program seal represents a manufacturer's commitment to a high level of quality and purity of aloe vera in its products. It is a symbol that stands for integrity, honesty, and quality. The seal demonstrates that a company has passed a professional inspection and audit for aloe vera processing, and that the quality and purity of aloe vera has been scientifically validated and certified by an independent group of professionals. Approval enables a company to use the IASC Certification Seal on product containers, company literature and in advertisements.

The IASC Certification Seal is a unique design commissioned by the Council, and the Council owns and has exclusive trademark of the symbol. Misrepresentation and/or misuse or display of the seal is strictly prohibited by the Council and will incur legal action.

For the consumer, the Certification Seal indicates that quality aloe vera has been used to formulate the product, and guarantees that the product has met the IASC certification standards for quality and purity of aloe vera.

Companies may illegally display the seal knowing that it will enhance their position in the marketplace. The best way for consumers to ensure they are purchasing products that have passed certification is by verifying the product is listed on the IASC certified products listing page. Consumers with questions about the certification status of a product can contact IASC for verification.

The IASC believes the Certification Seal represents the only way to validate an aloe vera product to the world market and to quality-minded consumers. We encourage manufacturers to strongly pursue the certification process and the use of the IASC seal, and consumers to purchase products displaying the IASC certification seal.
