Continuing education and development programs for credit union professionals help the credit union movement remain competitive in the financial marketplace. We provide scholarships for credit union-related educational courses and professional development programs to ensure credit union employees have access to the training they need to successfully serve their organizations and their communities.

At this time the Louisiana Foundation and the Young Professionals Network (YPN) have paused accepting scholarship applications to attend the Credit Union Development Education Program (CUDE) as this training is only being held virtually. We look forward to when the National Foundation resumes in person trainings.

What is CUDE?

A program of the National Credit Union Foundation, the DE program brings renewed relevance to the philosophy of "People helping People." This unique and transformative training provides critical lessons in cooperative principles, credit union philosophy and international development issues while incorporating challenges credit unions face today.

During the week long training, participants are involved in group exercises, field trips, encouraged to ask questions of visiting speakers, and are required to complete team projects proposing solutions for credit unions to help alleviate or eliminate challenging situations in any given area.

Visit the National Credit Union Foundation's website for more information on the program.

Who is eligible?

This program is ideal for credit unions staff who have demonstrated through their actions their passion and commitment to credit unions. As such, the applicant criteria is as follows:
  • Applicant is an employee or volunteer at a Louisiana credit union;
  • Applicant must be a member of the YPN;
  • Applicants must be actively involved in credit union activities; Examples include regular participation in chapter meetings, committee work, credit union activism, etc.
  • Applicant has the endorsement of their CEO

What is included?

The scholarship covers all expenses (lodging, meals, and materials) for the DE training. All travel expenses to and from Madison, as well as incidentals while at the training are the responsibility of the credit union or applicant.

Award Recipients' Responsibilities

After completion of the program, the recipient will prepare a brief summary of his/her educational experience and share with the Foundation and YPN

The mission of the Southeast CUNA Management School (SRCUS) is to provide students the opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities so that they can contribute to the success of their credit unions. The school utilizes faculty from the University’s Terry College of Business and experts from the credit union industry. The curriculum is designed to be delivered over a three-year period with students in residence for course work each summer for six days. In between the summers, students apply the knowledge gained from the School to projects that require strategic analysis of their credit unions and research of relevant issues facing the credit union industry. The 2022 SRCUS Management School will be held June 12-17 on the campus of the University of Georgia.
