Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science

Article by: Josie Gaskey, PACA's Director of Environmental, Safety and Health

In the April 30, 2018 Federal Register, EPA proposed a regulation intended to strengthen the transparency of EPA regulatory science. The proposed regulation provides that when EPA develops regulations, particularly regulations for which the public is likely to bear the cost of compliance, EPA should ensure that the data underlying the scientific studies that are critical to the action being taken, are publicly available in a manner sufficient for independent validation.

EPA is requesting input from the public and comments are due May 30, 2018.
