Annual “Heroes” Fundraising Event Runs April 1-30, 2018 at Olympic Hot Tub

Event Honors Washington State Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Donation Goal is $15,000

From April 1 – April 30, 2018, Olympic Hot Tub hosts its annual “Heroes” event to honor and support the Washington State Fallen Firefighters Foundation (WSFFF). Olympic Hot Tub will donate a portion of each Hot Spring Spa, Finnleo Sauna, Freeflow Spa and Covana Automated Gazebo sold in the month of April.

Don Riling, president of Olympic Hot Tub, launched the annual “Heroes” event in 2017 as a way to give back to the community his company has been a part of for over forty years. Each year Olympic Hot Tub selects a beneficiary that honors or celebrates local heroes, first responders or teachers. This year’s recipient, WSFFF directly assists the firefighter’s family after the loss of a Washington state firefighter.

Pat Ellis, president of WSFFF explains, “The emotional and financial weight put on the families of fallen firefighters is devastating. WSFFF steps in to assist with funeral service costs and immediate support.  This can mean covering airfare costs so family members can attend the funeral, or simply paying the venue rental fees or arranging for a sound system at the service. Each family’s situation is unique and we are grateful to Don Riling and Olympic Hot Tub for their financial contributions and support of our foundation.”

This year’s donation goal is set at $15,000. In 2017 Olympic Hot Tub exceeded its donation goal to the beneficiary, Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s Fisher House, by 50%.  Olympic Hot Tub also encourages community members to donate directly to the Washington State Fallen Firefighter Foundation this month. Interested parties may visit http://wsfff.org/donate/ for more information on what and how to donate.

About Washington State Fallen Firefighters Foundation

The Washington State Fallen Firefighters Foundation (WSFFF) was established in partnership with the Washington State Fire Chiefs Association, the Washington State Council of Firefighters, the Washington State Firefighters’ Association, and the Washington Fire Commissioners Association in October of 2015. The purpose of the foundation is to establish a permanent memorial to the fallen firefighters of Washington State on the Washington State Capital Campus and to the assist the families and fire departments of fallen firefighters.

In a recent study by Careercast.com, firefighting was rank the second most stressful job in the nation. Every year in the State of Washington 8 to 12 firefighters die from duty-related illnesses, such as cancer and heart attacks due to stress and over exertion. When a firefighter dies it is felt by the entire community, a hero, who has given themselves to the preservation of life and property. The WSFFF is dedicated to honoring our fallen heroes, their families, their fellow firefighters, and the communities that they served. Their lives are honored by Honor Guards, Fire Service Pipe and Drum Bands and the deep traditions of the fire service.
