WASHINGTON STATE FIRE TRAINING ACADEMY TRAINING WATER TREATMENT PROJECT UPDATE

WASHINGTON STATE FIRE TRAINING ACADEMY TRAINING WATER TREATMENT PROJECT UPDATE

Members of the Washington State Fire Training Academy (FTA) recently attended the kick-off meeting for our training water treatment upgrades. The FTA discussed the potential of running Recruit Academy 2019-03 and other training alongside the planned construction activities. Unfortunately, unforeseen equipment delivery lead times will delay the start of the project until September 9, 2019. This means that Recruit Academy 2019-03 along with other scheduled training will not be available for the remainder of the year. The construction timeline will require the system to be out of service for the majority of the work and therefore no alternative workarounds will be available.

The good news is the FTA will be available for training opportunities starting today and until September 9, 2019. The FTA will be contacting departments impacted by the updated construction timeline. These departments will have priority to reschedule their training to any time before September 9, 2019, or in 2020. After these contacts have been made, the FTA will open up the remaining available training dates between now and the start of the project. If you are interested in scheduling training please e-mail FireTrainingAcademy@wsp.wa.gov<mailto:FireTrainingAcademy@wsp.wa.gov>.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to accommodate construction schedules. This upgrade is the first major step in achieving the FTA Master Plan and sets the foundation for new burn buildings and other future improvements.

Thank you,

Chad Cross – Commander Washington State Fire Training Academy
