Governor Inslee signs bills supporting firefighters

Gov. Jay Inslee signs two bills that aid in honoring deceased firefighters and assist in firefighter training. The two bills, House Bill 2091, and House Bill 2003 were created by request of the Department of Natural Resources, and the Washington State Patrol. “This is inherently dangerous work. At some point in their career, every firefighter loses a colleague in the line of duty.

Telehealth in rural fire departments could help address healthcare challenges

Driving 50 miles or more through wintry conditions to get to a pharmacy is a risky challenge that for disabled and elderly people living in remote locations often isn’t possible. Washington State University pharmacy student Amanda Whitehead, part of the university’s Rural Health Initiative, is exploring the feasibility of setting up telehealth stations in rural fire stations to help bring many health care services to a location much closer.

Driver charged with 5 counts of manslaughter in wreck with Oklahoma firetruck

VIDEOS: The driver of the car who wrecked with a Tulsa firetruck on Feb. 26 is facing five counts of manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence, according to court documents. The wreck happened around 5:30 p.m. when 28-year-old Keiosha Rucker, driving a white Hyundai, pulled in front of a Tulsa fire truck that was responding with lights and sirens to a call.

Denver metro firefighters hit the bars with bagpipes, drums for St. Patrick's Day fundraiser

Maxim fire engine celebrates 100th birthday at Massachusetts fire station

PHOTOS: The red paint of the 1923 Maxim fire engine glistened in the afternoon sunlight as it stood in front of the Northborough fire station. “It’s more than just a truck. It’s more than just steel on wheels,” said Shay Bailey. Members of the Northborough Firefighters Association are celebrating the engine’s 100th birthday.
