Crews battled a large fire early Monday morning in Longview, authorities said. According to Longview Fire, crews rushed to a home at 2715 Fir St. just after 2:00 a.m. where a detached garage was fully ablaze, with the fire showing the possibility of spreading. Officials said that units were on the scene within five minutes of the original 911 call and they quickly jumped into action, fighting back the flames.

Nearly two dozen residents in D.C.’s Eckington neighborhood are without a home after a massive fire engulfed an apartment building in Northeast overnight Monday, authorities said.
