Oklahoma City Fire Truck Overturns On Icy Roads While Responding To Call

On Thursday morning, officials with the Oklahoma City Fire Department say a fire engine was responding to a fire alarm when the truck rolled over on the roadway.

The accident, which occurred near N.W. 16th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., was located just outside of the fire station.

A sweetheart of a fire truck arrives custom-made | New Canaan Advertiser

The new pumper truck, Engine #7, took over a year to be custom built to meet the special specifications of New Canaan, and is expected to come in as budgeted at $615,000 after all the finishing touches are done, said Fire Chief Jack Hennessey.

Over the span of that year, members of a six-man truck committee took turns traveling to Spartan Motors in Michigan to watch the progress of the chassis and wheels and to Marion Body Works in Wisconsin to see the construction of the cab, body and pump.

Selah firefighters get a new fire truck for better response

District 2, Selah citizens and a utility tax helped pay for the more than $300,000 truck.

Hanna said this allows the department to replace their old truck and have a spare for when one of the trucks has to undergo maintenance. This way, they will have a backup and won't be without a truck, which is something the department has never had before.

The department also wants to buy two trucks, using a grant to help pay for one of them.

Ambulance fire explodes oxygen tank, sends shrapnel flying at AMR HQ

An AMR ambulance that had been idling by the maintenance bay had caught fire late Tuesday morning, and then tanks of compressed oxygen inside the burning ambulance blew up, sending shrapnel hurtling through the air in a 100-foot radius, Buffalo fire officials and AMR representatives said.

The force of the explosion threw a maintenance worker who was outside up against a wall and set off an airbag inside the pickup truck of a second AMR employee who was trying to move it away from the burning ambulance.
