Tonight I would flag two op-eds on Operation Warp Speed
– one by Senator Bill Frist, the other by the Infectious Disease Society of America
Both focus on the importance of starting now in outreach and education to prepare people for an eventual vaccine campaign, including to communities of color who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19. HHS is already working on this outreach, starting with collaborations and outreach with community leaders to encourage participation in the Moderna vaccine clinical trials.
• Senator Bill Frist
also released an op-ed in Stat News titled, “Science Alone Cannot Beat the Pandemic. We Also Need Outreach About a COVID-19 Vaccine.”
• The Infectious Disease Society of America
released an op-ed in The Washington Post titled, “A COVID-19 Vaccine Can Ensure Better Outcomes for Communities of Color. Let’s Work to Earn Their Trust.”
