Each year the Alliance has the distinctive honor to recognize some of the best of the best in the water and wastewater industry. Awards are presented to individuals that have been nominated by their peers, coworkers, managers and/or board / council members during the luncheon held at our annual Spring Conference.

2020 Award Recipients

The best of the best in the water and wastewater industry was supposed to be honored at our 2020 Spring Conference, however the event had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. Now that restrictions have eased a bit, the Alliance has been able to present a few awards. This page will we updated as the awards are presented.

Bob Lindley, Monticello Wastewater Utility

Wastewater Systems Operations Specialist of the Year

Bob has worked for the utility since 1994, and was nominated by David Downey. Downey says, “Bob consistently goes above and beyond in his duties on and off the clock, mentors his employees through example and guidance, and communicates with customers and residents professionally and in a way that deescalates situations and puts the utility forward in a positive manner.”

 

Dale Poole, Tell City Water Department

Water Systems Operations Specialist of the Year

Dale Poole, Water Department Superintendent with the Tell City Water Department was presented with the “Water System Operations Specialist of the Year” award from Alliance of Indiana Rural Water. This honor was supposed to be presented during their Spring Conference in March, however the event had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. Circuit Rider, Dave Adkins delivered the award to Dale just before he retired at the end of March . He was nominated by Brent Badger and the entire Water Department - they all agree, “Since Dale has been Superintendent, we believe our water system has greatly improved.”

Daryl Naville, Borden Tri-County Regional Water District

Manager of the Year

Daryl has been working for the system since 1976. Daryl was nominated by Sandy Sander, who says, “He is always ready to listen to customers issues and find the best solution to resolve them; likewise, he is always ready to listen to employees suggestions, and is always looking ahead to keep our infrastructure ahead of the game.”

 

Erin Michael, BBP Water Corporation

Administrative Professional of the Year

Nominator, Todd Gardner, says he nominated Michael because, “she always represents the water corporation in a positive and professional manner. She has also been willing to adopt other roles and responsibilities as needed, takes it in stride and just gets the job done both promptly and correctly.”

 

Covalen

Associate Member of the Year

Covalen – located on the southeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana, was presented with the Associate Member of the Year award from Alliance of Indiana Rural Water during their Spring Conference held in French Lick, IN on March 18th. This honor is presented to an associate member that has gone above and beyond for the Alliance. Covalen has been a member of the Alliance since 2002, and was selected because of their unwavering support for the Alliance’s mission to serve rural water and wastewater communities in Indiana. This support has been shown throughout the years through not only important sponsorships but also by representatives serving on committees and boards, as well as attendance at every Alliance event.

 

Darrell Baker, Brown County Water Utility

President's Choice Award

Darrell Baker, Operations/Field Service Manager for Brown County Water Utility, was presented with the “President’s Choice” award from Alliance of Indiana Rural Water during their Spring Conference held in French Lick, IN on March 18th. This award is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Baker was selected by the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water Board President because of Baker’s retirement this March and he wanted to recognize his years of service to the Alliance. He has been a strong supporter of the Alliance for several years and served on the board of directors for 8 years.

 

Craig Williams, City of Angola

Steward of the Environment Award

Craig Williams, Wastewater Superintendent of the City of Angola Wastewater Treatment Plant, was presented with the “Steward of the Environment” award from Alliance of Indiana Rural Water during their Spring Conference held in French Lick, IN on March 18th. This award is presented to an individual who exemplifies the message, “Take care of the environment and the environment will take care of you.” Craig has been with the system since 2001, beginning as a wastewater operator. Williams was nominated by Sarah Helbig of Jones & Henry Engineers who says, “When we think of a representative who has made improvements of their system to positively support the region, who cares deeply about water quality, and who is actively pursuing progress in this area - along with being a passionate and encouraging leader, Craig Williams is definitely deserving of this recognition.”
