IAFC Fire and EMS National Emergency Safety and Survival Alert

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), through their Safety, Health and Survival Section and in cooperation with the Emergency Responder Safety Institute, are urging all fire chiefs and officers to immediately issue a safety and survival alert in their departments. During an emergency safety and survival alert, personnel are urged to postpone non-emergency tasks to focus on critical safety and survival training.

Sign language conversation between boy, New Hampshire firefighter goes viral

VIDEO: A special moment of communication between a boy and a Manchester fire lieutenant was caught on camera, and the video has now gone viral. It was a brief interaction, but Manchester resident Amy McCall said the 39-second encounter will last a lifetime for her son, Tegan. "He's not going to forget it," she said.

Firefighters Win Legal Victory in New York

VIDEO: It's a legal victory for the union that represents Watertown's city firefighters - the union can bring its dispute over staffing levels to arbitration. Just a year ago, a state Supreme Court judge ruled the union couldn't go to arbitration. Now a state appellate court has overturned that ruling.

Firefighters battle massive fire at paper plant in New Jersey, closing some area schools

VIDEO: Firefighters continued their efforts through the day Thursday following a devastating fire that destroyed the Marcal Paper Mills facility in Elmwood Park. The fire broke out at about 5 p.m. Wednesday at the plant on Market Street and went to eight alarms. Huge paper rolls in the warehouse were fully engulfed in flames, and the roof collapsed.

New bill wants to record every EMS transport in Maine

Several police departments in Maine require recording devices on their officers and in their patrol cars. But what about videotaping the inside of an ambulance during a call? Topsham Fire Chief Chris McLaughlin says the camera in their ambulance has no recording device. He thinks that would violate a patient's privacy.
