Shots fired at Florida ambulance while paramedics respond to call, police search for shooter

A Sarasota ambulance responded to a call early Monday morning and was struck by multiple bullets, according to police. Sarasota police responded to reports of the Sarasota County Fire Department being shot upon during a call on Goodrich Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. The ambulance was dispatched to 2932 Goodrich Avenue in Sarasota for an individual who had fallen.

Ohio firefighter hopes to raise awareness after struggle with post-traumatic stress

Since his earliest memories, Jason Hufford has always wanted to be a firefighter. But what he wasn't prepared for were the many traumatic experiences that would have an affect on his mind and eventually, his body. Nor was he prepared for the yearlong journey he endured to become an advocate for first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress.

Superbug MRSA found on ambulance oxygen tanks, floors, door handle raising need for vigilance in prehospital setting, study shows

A new study published in the Emergency Medicine Journal shows that the much-talked-about threat of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, also known as MRSA, isn't just found inside hospitals. The research shows the threat exists for patients before they even get to a hospital bed, with the potentially deadly bacteria showing up on oxygen tanks in ambulances, ambulance floors and even on ambulance door handles.

Watch Firefighters Escape Erupting Flames from Illinois House

VIDEO: Illinois firefighters survived flames erupting through an outside window while battling a house fire recently. The Decatur Fire Department posted a video taken by a resident of the Dec. 28 close call for the crew. In it, firefighters including one on a ladder are outside, near one of the windows, as they're fighting the home blaze.

'Failure to care, indifference' led to Delaware firefighters' deaths, court records claim

The city of Wilmington and its mayors' "failure to care" and "indifference" led to the deaths of three Wilmington firefighters and serious injuries to another three in a row home arson in Canby Park in 2016, according to the latest round of court documents filed in a civil lawsuit in the case, obtained by WDEL.
