Flag Lowering

Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Monday, May 30, 2016, in recognition of Memorial Day. This federal holiday is in remembrance of the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.

The Governor’s Office has no objection to agencies lowering the flags at the close of business on Friday, May 27, 2016. Flags should remain at half-staff until noon on May 30 or first thing Tuesday morning, May 31, 2016.

Please notify all of your field offices and facilities around the state.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

First Kent FD Chief Passes Away

It is with great sadness that the Washington Fire Chiefs announces the passing of former Fire Chief Tom Foster.

 

It is with great sadness that the Washington Fire Chiefs announces the passing of former Fire Chief Tom Foster. Chief Foster died peacefully at a local assisted care facility on May 9th.

Chief Foster was the first paid Fire Chief for the then, Kent Fire Department. He served in that capacity from 1965 until he retired in 1981. Prior to that, the position was a volunteer one.

Flag Lowering (1st Lt. David Bauders) - 5/18/16

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Washington National Guard First Lieutenant David A. Bauders, 25, of Seattle, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.  He died in Iraq in a non-combat related incident.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on May 18, 2016.

Please notify your staff and all of your field offices and facilities around the state.

Interment is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery.
