Flag Lowering

Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Monday, May 30, 2016, in recognition of Memorial Day. This federal holiday is in remembrance of the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.

The Governor’s Office has no objection to agencies lowering the flags at the close of business on Friday, May 27, 2016. Flags should remain at half-staff until noon on May 30 or first thing Tuesday morning, May 31, 2016.

Please notify all of your field offices and facilities around the state.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

It is with great sadness that the Washington Fire Chiefs announces the passing of former Fire Chief Tom Foster. Chief Foster died peacefully at a local assisted care facility on May 9th.

Chief Foster was the first paid Fire Chief for the then, Kent Fire Department. He served in that capacity from 1965 until he retired in 1981. Prior to that, the position was a volunteer one.

FireRescue GPO members have asked for more fire apparatus contracts and we have delivered! Several new publicly solicited contracts for fire apparatus are now available as the result of a public solicitation by our Lead Public Agency partner, the Public Procurement Authority. These contracts offer a wide range of fire apparatus, options and accessories from a number of quality manufacturers and their respective dealer network.
