Mobile home fire in Poulsbo kills dog

A fire that began on a porch spread to a mobile home in Poulsbo on Wednesday. The fire killed one dog. A second dog was taken to a veterinary clinic. Firefighters went to the Poulsbo Mobile Home Park about 12:40 p.m. Police arrived first, and fire officials said an officer was able to use an extinguisher to put out much of the porch fire, slowing its spread.

Bellevue receives pushback on Fire Station 10 site

As the City of Bellevue continues its acquisition process for land it says is needed for Fire Station 10, residents urge the need for relocation. The site slated for Fire Station 10 — a 2.82-acre plot located on the northwest corner of 112th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 12th Street in the Northtowne neighborhood of Bellevue — will require the acquisition of up to nine parcels of land bordering one another.

Woman killed in West Seattle house fire

A woman was killed in a fire that broke out in a West Seattle home early Wednesday morning. Firefighters were called to the home in the 9800 block of 44th Ave. SW just after 4:30 a.m. to find the home fully engulfed in flames. A man who lived in the home told KOMO News he and his roommate were working outside in a shed while their two mothers slept upstairs.

Fire District 10 joins Clark County Fire & Rescue in pursuit of a levy lift

On April 25 as part of a special election, voters within Fire District 10 will be asked to vote on a levy lid lift. The measure seeks to raise property taxes from the current 69 cents per $1,000 to $1 per $1,000. The increased funding would go toward paying for full-time staffing. The district covers 64 square miles of rural homes in the northeast corner of Clark County.

Judge says NKF&R negligent in fatal crash; share of fault to be determined by jury

A King County Superior Court judge ruled March 2 that North Kitsap Fire & Rescue was negligent in the crash that caused the death of a motor scooter rider in 2014. Judge Ken Schubert also rejected the fire district’s argument that the lawsuit was frivolous. But Schubert ruled that a jury would determine whether the rider of the Yamaha YP400 Majesty scooter, Jason T.
