Dr. David Griffin will open the FPI as keynote speaker, speaking on the Sofa Super Store fire and how it has shaped massive reforms on how firefighters are trained as well as how executives lead their teams. His message, "In Honor of The Charleston 9: A study of Change Following Tragedy" uses video footage from the fire and presented by the first due engineer on scene of the multiple line of duty death.
