Water Superintendent WT-4 – Town of Osgood

Essential Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (minimum), ability to pass a drug screen. Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) certification as Water Treatment Class 4. Additional IDEM certification as Distribution System Medium (DSM) Operator will be needed or quickly obtained. Must submit verbal or written reports as requested or required.

Summary Statement: As Water Treatment Operator the primary job function is to ensure a clean, safe and abundant water supply for customer convenience and safety. Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant (WTP) and all required testing. Direct purchasing of supplies needed for the operation of the plant is the responsibility of the Water Superintendent. Maintain all records regarding operation and maintenance of WTP. Ensure that chemical testing is conducted, submitted and reported in the appropriate fashion. Collecting data, assembling, approving and submitting required reporting forms to IDEM. Managing scheduling, work duties and continuing education for other members of the Water Department Staff. Attendance at monthly town council meetings as requested. General understanding of Town of Osgood distribution system and processes.

What the job description does not tell. The Town of Osgood is located in Ripley County Indiana. The water plant is currently going through an upgrade and the utility has been modernized with Scada and radio read meters. The Town of Osgood has resources of good equipment to help in operating and maintaining the utility. The water treatment operator is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and would be expected to interview potential candidates for a water technician opening. Compensation is commensurate with experience and certification and would be competitive, with excellent benefits, employer-funded family health insurance, PERF, and paid time off with personal days, vacations, and holidays. The Town of Osgood has had a history of low turnover in the utilities. We are in need of a Treatment Operator with WT-4 and DSM.
