A Letter from the LMTA President

From David Newman of Newman Transport

FROM THE 2019-2020 LMTA PRESIDENT DAVID NEWMAN:

LMTA Member:

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well, safe, and healthy. As you know, due to COVID-19, we have cancelled our Annual Truck Driving Championship and the Annual Seafood Gala, which are our two largest fundraising events. Of course, this has put us in survival mode, as I am sure a lot of you are as well. There has never been a more desperate time in which we need every members support. If your membership dues or sponsorship monies are due or if you can spare any extra dollars to the LMTA, it would be most appreciated if you would bring your accounts up to date immediately.

If your account is current, I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU.

As our by-laws require us to do, we are still planning to have our Annual Convention, which is scheduled to be in Pensacola in July. Obviously as of now, we are not sure if that will happen as planned. We will keep you posted on this event’s time and place.

One other unforeseen event: our Executive Director Chance McNeely has submitted his resignation to the Executive Committee to be effective May 1, 2020. I have thanked Chance for his dedication to our organization and wish him well with his future. The Executive Committee is in the planning stages of moving forward to decide the best options for our future. It will be a challenge to hire a new Executive Director with limited funds.

The LMTA has been the voice of the LA Trucking Industry for longer than I have been around, so rest assured, we will continue our mission into the future with your help.

Sincerely,

David Newman
LMTA President
Newman Transport

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR ANNUAL SPONSORS

Proud members and supporters of both LMTA & Louisiana's trucking industry!
