2017 Fire Prevention Institute

October 23-27, 2017 - Campbell’s Resort ~ Lake Chelan

The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals, along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Washington Public Fire Educators, and the IAAI - Washington Chapter, is pleased to announce the dates for the 2017 Fire Prevention Institute (FPI).   The FPI is being held at Campbell’s Resort at Lake Chelan, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017, and will conclude after breakfast on Friday, October 27, 2017.   The Fire Prevention Institute focuses on important prevention and strategy issues facing fire officials and will include essential training hours needed for code recertification.  

WSAFM will issue ICC Continuing Education Credits!!

Room rates will be based on the government per diem rate in effect October 1, 2017.  

 

WSAFM Announces its Quarterly Newsletter….

Thanks to suggestions by the members of the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals, we are proud to be issuing the first quarterly email newsletter.  The purpose of this newsletter is to inform the members of the activities that the Board and other members are involved in as well as to provide education and resources to our members.    Why do we need a newsletter? 

Keep up to date with new information  
Receive notification of upcoming code hearings or changes  
Provide a regular notice to members of upcoming activities 

 What is WSAFM? The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is an organization comprised of seven divisions working on: National Codes, State Codes, Legislative Issues, Professional Development, Communications, Fire Prevention Institute, and Fire Investigation.  Membership in the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is open to individuals in four categories: Governmental, Associate, Educational and Retired. There are many benefits to membership for individuals in all categories.  

 

Scientific Protocols for Fire Investigation

This seminar is part of the 2017 Fire Prevention Institute, and will be held from 8:30 – 5:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 24, 25 & 26.  This session also includes the Opening Keynote session on Monday, October 23, from 1:00-5:00.  Please note, when registering for the 2017 Fire Prevention Institute Fire Investigation Class you will be registering for only the Scientific Protocols for Fire Investigation.
 
Class materials for the seminar will be the hardbound textbook, Scientific Protocols for Fire Investigation, Second Edition, which will be provided with your $450 Early Bird registration fee, if received by September 1.  Registration fees received after September 1, will be $475.  Full conference registration fee includes the Banquet Dinner on Thursday, October 26, as well as the networking breakfast on Friday, October 27.  

Please note, One Day registrations will not be available for the Fire Investigation Class.

NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code Overview & 2013 Changes

Get informed about the Fire Alarm Code that went into effect July 1, 2016 for Washington State.  This one-day course will cover the significant changes from the 2010 to the 2013 edition of NFPA 72 and how those changes impact building design, code officials, designers, and contractors. 

The class is designed for Fire Marshals, Building Officials, Fire Inspectors, Building Inspectors, plan reviewers, fire alarm designers and contractors, facility managers, Architects, and those interested in fire alarm systems.

2016 Fire Prevention Institute - VENDOR REGISTRATION

The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals, in conjunction with the Washington State Fire Marshal's Office, WA Chapter of IAAI, and the Washington Public Fire  Educators will be hosting the Fire Prevention Institute, October 17-20, 2016 at Campbell's Resort, 104 W Woodin Ave, Chelan,Washington 98166.

Do you provide a service or a product that can help us improve our service delivery or prevent fires and injuries? If you are interested in meeting the buyers of today and tomorrow, learning your customer's needs, demonstrating new products, expanding your market area, increasing your sales, or establishing new contacts, you will not want to miss the opportunity to participate in Vendor Luncheon and Night! The vendor lunch allows one representative from each company one minute of introduction. This is a great opportunity to meet those who are end users of your products and services.

The audience will include city and county fire marshals, public educators, fire prevention officers, state officials, and other interested organization and corporation leaders. 

This year again will feature lunch with the vendors on Tuesday, October 18, followed by "Vendor Night" Tuesday evening. Vendors set up between 9:00 am to 11:00 Tuesday morning to catch attendees during breaks and lunch. If you are not set up by 11:00 a.m. you may do so after 1:30 p.m., as the Vendor Reception will begin at 4:30 p.m.
