LMTA Shares Holiday Cheer with Toys for Tots Campaign

Our association thanks members and participants for a successful 2020 campaign!

Members of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) donated over 250 toys during the holiday season for the Baton Rouge Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. The association supported the 2020 Toys for Tots campaign, as a drop site and hosting an online fundraiser that raised $750 in donations.

“We wanted to give back to the community,” said LMTA’s Treasurer, Mike Knotts. “Setting up an online fundraiser was a way we could get more of our members involved safely.”

The Baton Rouge U.S. Marine Corps Reserve collects toys as Christmas gifts to children in need within the community with over 19,500 toys being distributed in 2019. LMTA staff used online donations to purchase an additional 100 toys on behalf of member organizations. Over 150 toys were collected at the LMTA’s Baton Rouge office, filling two large collection boxes provided by the Marine Corps Reserve.

With the additional toys bought with online donations, the association doubled its anticipated gifts filling over four collection boxes at the Marine Corps Reserve distribution center.

“Truckers do so much for their communities, and this is just one example of the service work of which truckers are involved,” said LMTA Executive Director Renee Amar. “We are grateful to our members for everything they do for the community and our state.”

The LMTA would like to thank its members for their generous donations during this unprecedented holiday season. The association would also like to give a special thanks to Sgt. Derek Lambert with the Baton Rouge Marine Corps for his efforts overseeing this year’s regional campaign.
