Vision 20/20 Releases Study on Smoke Alarm Issues in the United States

Vision 20/20 (www.strategicfire.org) is releasing an in-depth analysis of smoke alarm and related research focusing on why smoke alarms may not be in as widespread use as previously thought.  Using an extensive literature review and data gathered during a number of Vision 20/20 Assistance to Firefighter Grant funded Community Risk Reduction projects, the study, The Smoke Alarm Problem, sheds light on the problems the fire safety community faces in getting people to install and maintain enough smoke alarms to properly protect their families...

This 6-Day Off-Campus course introduces the student to the fundamental methodology for application of fire and life safety codes and standards.  Although it contains many of the basic principles of code enforcement, more experienced code inspectors and officials might find it useful as a review of essential methodologies and as a useful update to current code enforcement applications.  Please review the FEMA-NFA website for specific details.

 The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is hosting the Badger/Kidde factory Pre-Engineering training program addresses all of the necessary product specific equipment service details, as well as service manuals, product literature, bulletins and other materials necessary for compliances with various codes and NFPA (i.e., NFPA 10, NFPA 17, NFPA 17 A, NFPA 70, NFPA 72 and NFPA 96) requirements.

This two-hour online training course (8 a.m. - 10 a.m.) will focus on Fire Alarm Fundamentals. This course will provide attendees with the requirements found in NFPA 72 Chapter 10, Fire Alarm Fundamentals, which applies to all fire alarm system installations. The presenter will be John Swanson, NFPA 72 Technical Committee member.
