Value of Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice Membership

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice's mission is to provide a unified commitment to impact quality and growth in home care through education, networking and support to the membership.

Nebraska Home Healthcare & Hospice Advocacy

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice advocates for its members, in order to represent their interests and protect the services provided to beneficiaries. We depend on members to voice their opinions, share stories and insight to help us protect those rights and represent their businesses. The association strives to positively influence public policy efforts on behalf of members at the local, state and federal levels.

State Level Advocacy

Through the association’s lobbyist and the Government Affairs/Reimbursement Committee’s work, association members are kept informed of legislative updates. The association offers grassroots training to members on how to be proactive in addressing legislative issues that impact the home healthcare industry, and how to build relationships with lawmakers. Representatives testify on behalf of the association's membership at state legislative committee hearings regarding issues that impact the home care industry in the state of Nebraska.

During election years), members interview state senator candidates and educate them about home care and hospice services. This is the beginning of our process in building relationships with state lawmakers. All members are welcome and invited to attend.

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice is always seeking feedback on how laws can be modified to help ensure that essential home care and hospice services are being provided and that members are being supported with the necessary resources to deliver those services. Equally important is having every Nebraska Home Care Association member build a relationship with his or her state senator, to help educate them about the work being done in our state to meet the growing consumer demands for home and community based care, which is the most cost-effective healthcare delivery system available. We provide training and information on how to do this, provide an annual luncheon at the state Capitol for you to meet with your state senator and legislative staff, and help arrange for you to host a visit or tour of your office to educate lawmakers about the services you are providing.

Federal Advocacy

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice shares frequent updates and calls to action on legislative issues at the federal level. We have a partnership with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice to keep us apprised of federal issues. Members of our state association meet with our Congressional delegation to lobby on behalf of issues important to the home health and hospice industry. We count on members to let us know what challenges they are facing and voice recommendations and concerns to our members of Congress. We also help arrange for visits and meetings, so that members can educate our Congressional delegation about home care and hospice services. You would receive regular email updates about these issues, to help you gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges in delivering home and community based care to Nebraskans.

Regulatory Advocacy and Updates

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice continuously asks members to share challenges they are facing with regulations, compliance and reimbursement. It is a strong, unified voice for the profession. Members receive emails keeping them apprised of the issues that home health and hospice providers are addressing, which provides further insight and education about the industry.

The Nebraska Association For Home Healthcare & Hospice works closely with its members to be proactive in addressing regulatory issues that impact Nebraska’s home health agencies. Our Medicaid Task Group has built relationships with Nebraska DHHS and the Medicaid Managed Care organizations. The Medicaid Task Group meets regularly with them to convey members’ ideas, requests and concerns and recommends ideas and resolutions to help ensure that home care providers are receiving adequate and timely reimbursement that accurately matches the services they are delivering, and that the amount of time spent on documentation and compliance can be reduced so that they can focus that time on serving beneficiaries.
