Education and Demonstrations from the Mueller Training Van Program

Agenda:

8:00am – 8:30 am:           Sign-in and Refreshments

8:30 am - 9:45 am:          We will discuss Hydrant Security Devices which prevent tampering with hydrants and

their applications. We will also cover the safe operation, maintenance, and    troubleshooting of fire hydrants.

 

9:45 am – 10:00 am:       Morning Break

 

10:00 am -11:15am:        We will discuss gate valves, focusing on how they operate and the importance of the preventative maintenance of each to  ensure proper working condition.

 

We will look at brass products and their uses in the field, starting with corporation stops, curb stops, service fittings, meter valves, meter boxes, yokes and settings.    

 11:15 am – 11:45 am:     We will discuss butterfly valves and check valves and move into pipe repair couplings and their versatility, features and functions.

 

11:45 am to 12:30 pm:  Lunch

 

AFTERNOON SESSION

12:30 pm – 1:00 pm:       We will pick up with leak detection and pressure monitoring of the water distribution systems as well as automated flushing systems.

 

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm:         We will conclude the day discussing the safe installation of service saddles, tapping sleeves and stainless-steel repair clamps. We will conclude with pipe tapping utilizing drilling and tapping machines.

Instructor:

George Lacefield, Senior Training Manger

George served over 23 years in the US Navy as a Boiler Technician (Water Tender), and Gas Turbine Technician as well as a Basic Training Instructor and a Trainer of Basic Training Instructors. While in the US Navy, he gained knowledge conducting repairs and preventive maintenance on valves, fittings, pumps, distilling plants, reverse osmosis units, boilers, gas turbine engines and all associated equipment as well as earning his certification as a Master Training Specialist. Also, he was responsible for all class “C” Naval engineering schools and courses, which included training over 3000 students and certification of over 200 instructors and 33 Master Training Specialists. Following his Naval service, George worked as a Field Service Engineer, providing consulting and troubleshooting on various systems at numerous power plants throughout the country. George began his career with Mueller in May 2010 as an Assistant Training Manager was promoted to Training Manager March 2011 and Sr. Training Manager Feb 2018. While with Mueller he has conducted over 800 full day training classes as well as numerous two and a half day hands on distributor training courses.
