Southwest Louisiana CU Reopens Branch 539 Days Post-Storm

Published: Mar 3, 2022

Southwest Louisiana Credit Union recently cut the ribbon on their freshly-remodeled Ryan Street branch.

The branch, one of three that the credit union operates, underwent major damage during hurricanes Laura and Delta in late 2020.

"We knew we had to come back for our community, and more importantly, for our members,” says Chad Miller, CEO of SWLACU. "Our Ryan Street branch was 'home' to so many of our members, and we wanted to make sure we built back even better than before.”

Facing multiple setbacks such as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, a second hurricane, an ice storm, and a historic flooding event — all within nine months' time — the credit union was finally able to complete renovations and reopen the branch mid-February.

"The process took longer than expected, but in the end we are extremely proud of our new refreshed looked and are happy to be back serving our members at our beloved Ryan St. location,” says Miller.
