Lafayette Chapter Awards Scholarships to Graduating Seniors & College/Technical School Students

Published: Apr 22, 2021

Credit unions are typically known for giving back to the communities where they serve members.  As a cooperative network of financial institutions the Lafayette Chapter of Credit Unions randomly selected member applicants to receive three $1000 scholarships in support of their continuing education goals.

Chosen recipients are April Bourlet, a student at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette will begin her Junior year in the fall majoring in Chemical Engineering; Lilly Espinoza, a Lafayette High School graduating senior plans to study music education beginning in the fall; and Gracie Latiolais is a senior, graduating from Teurlings Catholic HS this May and plans to attend UL Lafayette this fall to study Nursing. Each will receive a $1000 stipend.

“We are honored to be able to assist our young members with this scholarship award offering,” said Lafayette Chapter President José Montero.  “Credit Unions are about people helping people. The award recipients are working to ensure that they are able to provide for their future and our member Credit Unions are proud to be able to assist.”

Applications were accepted from members that are graduating high school seniors and current college/technical school students that are members of the Lafayette Chapter credit unions.  First Pioneers, Maple Federal, Meritus, Section 705 and University of Louisiana Federal all submitted eligible applicants for the drawing.
