Meritus Credit Union has announced the winner of its “Grand Comeback” promotion, as well as the winner’s chosen school to receive a matching award. Meritus CU member Donalisa Eugene won the $1,000 prize, and designated Evangeline Elementary School as the recipient of the $1,000 match.
The Grand Comeback was a $1,000 back-to-school giveaway for eligible members of Meritus CU. Once completing requirements for eligibility, an individual winner was selected at random, and that winner was able to choose any school in the parishes served by Meritus CU — Lafayette, Acadia and Iberia. Eugene chose Evangeline Elementary.
Evangeline Elementary principal Felise Williams said she was pleased Eugene selected their school, and that the donation will fund new benches, where there weren’t any, for students in green spaces on the campus.
