2020 New Laws & Regulatory Compliance Conference

We are excited to make this conference LCUL’s first hybrid event! Participants can choose to attend virtually or in person (capacity controlled see below for details). To maximize engagement levels for all registrants, we have customized our schedule to cover the most amount of relevant material in a short amount of time.


Wednesday, October 21: 12:30 pm to 4 pm

David Reed: David will be on-site covering multiple regulatory compliance issues facing credit unions in our complex environment especially in the areas of lending and collections. Don’t let your institution’s delinquency numbers and low bankruptcy filings give you a false sense of security. There is a tidal wave of defaults coming your way and you need to be prepared. Understanding the areas of this litigation and the sources of the most common collections mistakes are necessary to successfully manage collections risk during the pandemic. This session will cover:

  • Understanding the Compliance Risk in Collections
  • Consumer Protection Litigation Trends
  • Recognizing Compliance Landmines
  • Appreciate Special COVID Related Lending Compliance Risks
  • Defining UDAAP Do’s and Don’ts
  • Conducting a Risk Based Collections Audit

David will stay after the session to entertain questions or discussion of best practices with those on site.

Jeff Brooks, Adams & Reese: Jeff will be giving a brief overview of the upcoming election and discuss anticipated economic and legislative effects of either outcome.Virtual Session

Susan Looney: Susan will discuss the Fair Labor Standards Act and cover many Covid related changes and updates to basic employment law.

Ed Reisinger, KRP Law Firm: Ed will be covering advertising regulations which are especially important to those actively promoting loan products. Ed will also cover regulations pertaining to Online Banking, Bill Pay and Remote Deposit Capture.Virtual Session

LCUL Advocacy Update: Find out what current and upcoming legislation LCUL is monitoring and what the league advocacy department is doing for members.

Jonathan Kudulis, KRP Law Firm: Jonathan will wrap up our conference by covering legislative changes specific to Louisiana in 2020 that every credit union needs to know.

Lunch will be served for those on site and Susan and Jonathan will stay to entertain questions or share best practices with those who wish to extend the conversation.



$250 per person or per virtual connection



Program will be held at the Renaissance Baton Rouge. For our LCUL room block booking call (225)215-7000 and ask for our LCUL room block availability.


In-person registration is capacity controlled to the first 25 registrants (if capacity is reached, hotel may offer larger meeting space to accommodate demand). Masks must be worn while in the public areas of the hotel and when moving around the meeting room. Seating will be socially distanced 6 feet apart.
