The Fire Management Assistance Grant program is available to all fire jurisdictions statewide. This is a non-competitive program that offers reimbursement of extraordinary costs related to a fire declared by FEMA as large enough to constitute a major disaster. For the 2014 fire season, this program will reimburse 8 federally declared fires with over $41,131,876 in federal funds back to the State of Washington to include local fire jurisdictions and state agencies. This increased for the 2015 fire season to 12 federally declared fires with over $54,093,379. And 4 federally declared fires in 2016, conservative estimates provide over $4,611,975 back to Washington State, again this includes funds to both local jurisdictions and state agencies. So far 2017 has had 1 federally declared fire, the Spromberg fire, now eligible for cost reimbursement. This program is non-competitive; however, it is time sensitive with requests sent to FEMA as the fire is burning. Critical information is needed in order to make a timely request to FEMA and receive a fire declaration. This webinar will explain: who needs to know, what information is needed to receive a request and what to do once the request has been approved to maximize your reimbursement.
