The date of the memorial service for Officer Reginald “Jake” Gutierrez will be held on Friday December 9, 2016.
The location will be the Tacoma Dome, 2727 E. D Street, Tacoma, WA 98421.
The services will be open to the public. The details for attendees will be released as they become available.
Fire Service Participation
Fire departments wishing to participate in the Officer Gutierrez Memorial procession or provide backfill at Tacoma Fire stations during the memorial service need to contact Tacoma Fire Department Liaison Officer Jim Scott at: jscott@cityoftacoma.org.
Procession Details
Fire and EMS apparatus participating in the procession need to report to the Joint Base Lewis McChord Staging area between 0630 and 0830 Friday morning December 9, 2016.
To access the staging area, take the Highway 512 westbound exit from Interstate 5 and proceed to South Tacoma Way. Turn left at South Tacoma Way and proceed south approximately 1 block and turn left before the Wendy’s restaurant (onto the South Tacoma Way Extension) proceeding east over Interstate 5. Upon arrival at the JBLM entrance gate present fire department credentials or identification to base security personnel who will provide an escort to the staging area. Requirements to participate in Emergency Vehicle Procession:
1. Must Be in Uniform
2. Must show credentials upon entry to JBLM
3. Must be in police, fire or EMS vehicle equipped with emergency lights
4. Family members are allowed in emergency vehicles with uniformed officer
Backfill Details
Agencies wishing to provide backfill engine companies must also notify the Tacoma Fire Department Liaison Officer and report to fire station 8 at 4911 South Alaska Street no later than 0800 hours, December 9, 2016.
All requests for participation must be submitted no later than 1700 hours Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
