New Ipswich (NH) Needs Upgrades to Its Current Facility

New Ipswich (NH) fire officials say their station has several issues, including health concerns such as mold, reports ledgertranscript.com.

They say the station can’t be expanded upon and it’s too cramped, among other things. Town officials are hopeful that some aspects can fall under the custodian’s budget, which was not used up last year, according to the report.

Town officials say it will take a few more weeks to go over drafts, and a budget hearing will be in January. Once that’s finalized, it’ll be voted on at the March Town Meeting—the second Tuesday of the month, the report says.

Unity (ME) Fire Department Raising Money to Replace 1980 American LaFrance Ladder Truck

The Unity (ME) Fire Department is raising money to replace its 1980 American LaFrance ladder truck, reports waldo.villagesoup.com.

During an emergency call on July 4, 2019, the apparatus blew a radiator hose and repairs don’t make fiscal sense, the report says. The department bought the truck in 2009 from the Hamilton (MA) Fire Department for $5,000.

A new truck could range anywhere between $950,000 to $1.3 million. The report notes fire officials have also been researching used trucks in the $25,000-to-$50,000 ballpark.
