A Dayton (OH) Fire Department engine was damaged as it was responding to a call when it was struck by a hit-and-run driver, according to a report published by WHIO TV7.

According to the television station, the Dayton engine was in the area of Hershey and North Main streets at about 9 pm last night (Sept 8) when a gray or silver car hit the apparatus and fled the scene. The engine had its lights and siren activated as it rounded the corner at the time of the collision, according to the report.

The damage to the engine was described as minimal, according to the report, that added the driver was not in custody at the time of broadcast.

Defense Logistics Agency orders a total of twenty-seven Light Rescue Trucks

Lyons, SD, September 07, 2021 – Rosenbauer America is honored to announce two new contracts with the US Army National Guard, for a total of twenty-seven Light Rescue trucks. The contracts were awarded to Rosenbauer, through the Defense Logistics Agency, located in Philadelphia, PA.

The Light Rescues will be built on Ford F-550 SD Super Cabs. The Ford chassis will be powered by a 330 HP 6.7L engine providing plenty of power and torque for the application use.

Often, it’s the brightest, biggest, and newest innovations that catch the attention of trade show attendees. Seldom mentioned and often unnoticed are the small things on apparatus that should perk some interest. They’re features that purchasers may not have considered but perhaps should have. They also could be ones that purchasers might want to avoid when writing purchasing specifications. Some can “make or break” a rig’s performance.

General Truck Body Manufacturing Company displayed a “High Water Rescue” unit on an Acela chassis—appropriate for the beginning of the late summer hurricane season.

A first glance of the hydraulic tailgate at the rear and side access ladders made me wish the US Army 6×6’s in the late 1960s had them! A more practical observation is the gate enhances safe access and egress for firefighters and civilians rescued. Additionally, it allows for quick and easy loading of portable pumps and tools to fight fires when necessary in similar weather and terrain conditions.
