The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Paw Paw (MI) Planning for Fire Station

The groundbreaking for the $5.9 million project is planned for a fire station, reports MLive.com.

The current fire station has three bays, while the new station will have five double bays. The planning for the station started in 2012.

When the department moved into the station in 1974, no one expected the need to fit a 105-foot aerial truck.

The fire station will have modern features like a decontamination room, industrial washers for the gear and space to clean the air packs.

The department hopes to buy a water rescue boat after the move into the new space.

Augusta (ME) Plans to Buy Emergency Vehicles

The purchases of a new fire truck and ambulance are part of a five-year, $28.7 million capital improvement plan, reports CentralMaine.com.

The spending would be put to a vote in June 2022, or the city could hold a special election.

Summit (NJ) Firefighters Injured in Fire Apparatus Accident

Two City of Summit firefighters were injured in an accident, reports TAP Into Summit.

As firefighters were exiting their engine positioned on the side of the road, the rig was struck broadside by a second vehicle.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Corning (NY) Fire Department Replacing Fire Apparatus

The Corning City Fire Department now has a 2021 Pierce Enforcer to replace a 28-year-old ladder truck, reports The Leader.

The city purchased a 107-foot straight ladder truck at a final price came in at $900,000.

Fire officials and city officials worked together to settle on a purchase that met the city’s needs while keeping costs reasonable.
