The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Brockway (PA) Brings Home First Fire Equipment

The Brockway Borough Council spent $400 to buy a hose cart in 1904 and has brought the equipment home, reports Courier Express.

The apparatus is a wooden cart that two firefighters would pull to the scene of a fire. It runs on two wood-spoke wheels and had a box for supplies, a place to roll up a hose, and may have once had a hand pump to pump water.

The Brockway Volunteer Hose Company, then called the Brockwayville Volunteer Hose Company, was founded on Jan. 16, 1904. The hose cart was repainted sometime in the 1970s, and various pieces were replaced to hold it together.

New Haven (IN) Completes Fire Station Expansion

A ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the expansion of the main fire station, reports WANE.com.

The fire station will serve the community as a vaccination and COVID-19 testing site and as a heating or cooling shelter during mass power outage.

Officials said this is a great example of partnerships between government agencies, the county and the city of New Haven.

Construction Completion of Beatrice (NE) Fire Station Expected in Fall

Construction of a new Beatrice fire station is moving along, reports SandhillsExpress.com.

Most of the work of late has been on the internal components of the fire station and recently a new communications tower was erected next the station.

Voters approved a half-cent addition to the local sales tax to finance bond issues for the station, which will replace the cramped quarters in the lower level of the municipal auditorium, in use since 1965.

Dresden (ME) Auctioning Fire Apparatus

Dresden is auctioning two two used fire trucks which they say are in good condition, reports WABI 5.

All of the proceeds are going back to the town. One truck is from 1975 and was refurbished in 1996 and the other was made in 1991.

The funds will be used for road maintenance, setting up local events for residents, community programs, public safety initiatives, and more. Bidding is available here.
