The Ketchum Fire Department has moved into a fire station, reports KMVT 11.

The new 16,000 square foot fire station was funded through $11.5 million bond approved by voters in 2019. The new station offers more space for apparatuses from five to eight and offers more space and convenience for firefighters. The new station has six dorms for firefighters, the old location had three.

Fire officials expect the new fire station will make it easier to recruit firefighters in the future. Even though they have only been in the new station for 10 days, the chief believes the facility will allow them to respond to emergencies faster, due to it being away from a busy street.

The Wilson’s Mills Fire Department has purchased a 2004 Peirce Dash 100-foot ladder truck that was previously owned by the Cary Fire Department, reports The Johnston County Report.

The pandemic impacted the truck’s arrival. Fire officials expect all equipment to be installed on the truck in the next few weeks. It should be operational and responding to calls the end of October 2021.

The fire truck will be housed at the main fire station. Plans are in the works to add a third fire station. Wilson’s Mills Fire currently has an insurance rating of 3.

The Shelby Fire Department is adding a $775,000 fire truck to its fleet, reports The Star.

The new truck will have a capacity to hold 2,000 gallons of water, 500 more than other pumper trucks in the fleet. The increased water capacity keeps in mind Shelby’s growth of industries.

A 2004 engine will move into reserve and the 1987 truck will be sold as surplus.

The Hutchinson City Council approved the lease of a new fire truck, reports Hutch Post.

The truck will be located in a new fire station. The new truck costs $1.5 million and will be a lease to purchase over ten years.

The city will avoid a lump sum payment of around $300,000 at the end of ten years and will own the truck outright.
