Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc. Opening New Service Center in Meridian, Idaho

In June 2021, Pierce dealer, Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc., will open a 15,000-square-foot service facility located outside of Boise in Meridian, Idaho.

APPLETON, Wis. (May 18, 2021) – Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, announced today that authorized dealer, Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc., will open a new, 15,000-square-foot service facility located outside of Boise at 3396 W. Nelis Drive in Meridian, Idaho. With close proximity to Highway 84, the new service center is central for all of Idaho’s Pierce customers and will provide extensive service offerings, parts inventory, apparatus testing, and meeting space. Construction is currently underway, with a ribbon-cutting event planned for June 21, 2021.

“It was important to our team to find a centralized location for our new service center that would allow us to expand services for our customers to include a bigger facility, more personnel, and an expanded parts warehouse,” said Paul Schlumpberger, president of Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc. “Most critically, the new facility will reduce downtime. Our main objective is to get fire apparatus back to the department and placed into service as quickly as possible.”

Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc.’s new service center will offer annual National Fire Protection Association inspections, accident repair, pump and aerial testing and recertification, ground ladder testing, parts replacement, and full refurbishments. Additionally, the Meridian service center will feature:

• Three drive-through bays
• 20-foot-wide doors
• Outdoor aerial testing platform
• Indoor pump test bay for year-round testing
• 700-square-foot parts warehouse
• Steam rack to facilitate indoor truck-washing
• Office, meeting space, and conference rooms
• Energy-efficient LED lighting throughout
• Below-level water tank, allowing for the recirculation of water

The new service center will also be the hub for a pump test trailer that will facilitate off-site testing and dedicated mobile service technicians that will offer routine maintenance and repair, allowing trucks to be repaired or tested without leaving their home fire stations.

The Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc.’s service team includes a certified Pierce master technician on staff with additional technicians in the process of certification. A full-time parts and service writer was hired and service personnel expansion will continue throughout the facility.

Schlumpberger continued, “A larger facility with more technicians allows us to work on more projects at one time, and this significantly reduces fire apparatus downtime. Opening our new service center supports our goal to make sure personnel is available where they are needed most.”

Hawk Point (MO) Fire Protection District Purchases New 2018 Truck

The Hawk Point (MO) Fire Protection District recently purchased a new 2018 truck, reports lincolnnewsnow.com. The purchase was made available via the $.14 tax increase passed by residents in November.

The new apparatus fits six firefighters, has extra space for equipment, and boasts a 1,000-gallon tank. An official says that the district is planning on paying off the new truck in four and a half years.

The old truck is a second- or possibly third-hand 1998 edition. The tank also holds 1,000 gallons, but it leaks and there’s limited space for firefighters and their gear.

Onscene Solutions Adds New Linear Neon-Like Compartment Lights to Eliminate Led Hotspots

WINDSOR, Colo. — May 14, 2021 — OnScene Solutions, a leading manufacturer of cargo slides, LED lighting and equipment securement products in the first and emergency industry, is adding a new energy-efficient compartment light to its already popular and economical Access Series lineup. The all-new Access Pro delivers a linear neon-like experience that eliminates LED hotspots without losing light output — 400 lumens for every 18” of light. All the while, this efficient 12V DC light consumes 25% less energy than competing LED compartment lights with its mere 50MA per 2” segment-amp draw.

Featuring a tough 5/8” Lexan tube waterproof enclosure, the Access Pro is backed by a lifetime warranty and rated for 100,000 hours of use and includes all mounting hardware. Available in lengths from 6 to 72 inches and cuttable in 2-inch increments, these lights can be installed into any roll-up or standard-door configuration, great for new or retrofit applications. The extremely durable Access Pro is waterproof, perfect for underbody and compartment use, and the wire strain relief is UL approved, ensuring wire longevity.

Coming soon, departments can choose from static white, blue, red or green, while leveraging the light’s adjustable beam angle to deliver lighting that meets departments’ exact preferences.

OnScene Solutions is one of the leading LED light suppliers to OEMs in the fire service. The Access Pro joins an array of apparatus lighting solutions that includes other compartment light options, durable light bezels and color-changing in-cab lights.
