Emergency Reporting Provides Fire and EMS Records Management Software to National Institutes of Health Division of Fire and Rescue Services

BELLINGHAM, WA, June 6, 2019 – Emergency Reporting® (ER), the global leader in cloud-based reporting and records management software for Fire and EMS agencies, is excited to welcome new customer, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Fire and Rescue Services (MD). 

Emergency Reporting’s Fire and EMS package will be utilized by the NIH Division of Fire and Rescue Services on the Ultra Secure hosting platform to provide fire, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and specialized rescue services. Many of the hazards at the NIH are unique and require specialized knowledge to prevent and mitigate the effects of the emergency, which is why ER is the best records management software option for them. Life Scan Wellness Centers Announces Chief Todd LeDuc as Chief Strategy Officer

Life Scan Wellness Centers recently announced that Chief Todd LeDuc will join the company as Chief Strategy Officer, effective June 2, 2019.

Chief LeDuc is retiring from the Broward County (FL) Fire Rescue Service after 29 years of service throughout the ranks, having served as both Deputy and Assistant Fire Chief. Chief LeDuc has a master’s degree in Executive Fire Service Leadership, is designated as a Chief Fire Officer, and holds fellow status in the Institute of Fire Engineers.

For over a decade, Chief LeDuc has served as a Board Member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Safety, Health, & Survival Section and is currently the Section Secretary. He currently serves as a peer reviewer for agency accreditation and professional designation and facilitates the issuance of grants through FEMA Assistance to Firefighters.

Chief LeDuc was instrumental in the initiation and production of the IAFC Health Care Providers’ Guide for Firefighter Physicals and is an advisory board member to the Fire Rescue Center of Excellence on firefighter physicals. It is also noteworthy that Chief LeDuc is one of the leading contributors to the upcoming book, Surviving the Fire Service, co-authored with other recognizable authorities on firefighter health and safety. In addition to being widely published he is a sought-after international presenter on fire service leadership and survival. It should come as no surprise that Chief LeDuc has received numerous awards from the IAFC, IAFF, and the Center for Public Safety Excellence in recognition of his leadership and contributions to firefighter health and wellness.

As Life Scan’s newest officer, Chief LeDuc will continue to educate the fire service on the critical role that early detection plays in reducing preventable line of duty deaths and disabilities as part of NFPA compliant physicals and wellness programs for public safety providers. He will also assist in launching Life Scan’s behavioral health program aimed at assuring that first responder mental health is an integral component of each Life Scan physical. Chief LeDuc intends to work closely with leading research partners in order to enhance the knowledge base of first responder health and wellness including early detection, while continually improving Life Scan’s services to the clients we serve.

Birmingham (AL) Fire Station to Close Until Further Notice

Fire Station 27 will be closed until an assessment of the station is completed. The assessment is to ensure the safety of the firefighters and other employees of the station.  

The assessment comes after a local attorney representing firefighters said they found asbestos and mold in the station.

Station 27 is located at 401 Huffman Road. To ensure coverage of the area, a contingency plan has been implemented to distribute crews and other equipment to the community.

Knoxville Fire Department to Upgrade Dispatch, Alert System

 
 
 
Last month the City Council unanimously approved a nearly $1.2 million contract for the improvements to the Knoxville Fire Department's current alert and dispatch system for all of its fire stations, which was purchased in 1985 and partially upgraded in 2002. It is currently no longer supported, leaving the system vulnerable to catastrophic failure, according to the city.  

Currently, when a part breaks, KFD will purchase a replacement off eBay because parts are no longer manufactured, KFD Assistant Chief Mark Wilbanks said during a tour of a station Friday. Parts of the system are held together by “shoestrings and bubblegum,” he said.
