The firefighter union president Jason J. Burns says that they hope to know the results of the air testing after the cleaning by Wednesday morning.  

But he also said that the problem likely needs more than a band–aid solution because the station is almost 120 years old.

Built in 1900, Burns says the foundation of the building is porous, and the roof is leaky, which means water gets trapped inside.

"All that kind of settles down in the basement," said Burns. "It's dark, it's dingy, not a lot of air movement."

CSPD Public Information Officer Carter Hall said the truck was first debuted on May 20 at the Hall of Champions event.  

“It was very well received, it was great and people came up to it to take pictures in front of the truck with their Aggie rings on or doing a thumbs up,” Hall said. “It was a great response from the Aggie community to see that firetruck and have that same passion for the great relationship we have with A&M.”

The truck provides high level protection for rescue, and it is stationed in Fire Station 3 off of Barron Road close to the southern part of the city. The pump is a quintable combination pumper and is called Quint 723 for short. The engine has a 1,500 gallon pump and can hold up to 500 gallons of water in it’s tank.

For the 12th year, firefighters will be providing information to BC Ferries’ passengers heading to the Southern Gulf Islands about fire safety and the fire ban.

In addition to the old-school firetruck, BC Ferries will be making special public service announcements on board ships that serve the northern and southern areas of Vancouver Island as the risk of wildfire increases due to dry conditions.

 

BC Ferries says they are asking travellers and residents to be extremely cautious with cigarette butts, barbecues and all other heat-producing items.

According to police, 29-year-old Amber Lynn Sills stole a the Fire Rescue truck that happened to be out on a call on Avenue B. She crashed into a Fort Pierce Police patrol SUV. The officer was just getting out of the SUV at the time of the crash.  

There was a patient in the Fire Rescue vehicle. A second vehicle had to come to the scene to take the patient.
