CMC™ to Debut New Products for Safer Rescue Operations at FDIC International 2019

Firefighter rappelling with CMC unit

CMC™, the California-based rescue and work-at-height company dedicated to helping save lives, is excited to announce that it will showcase several new and updated products for rescue at FDIC International 2019.  Visitors to FDIC will be able to demo CMC’s marquee ATOM™ Harness, the LEVR™ Escape System with the newly designed Flash.2™ Escape Anchor, the recently released G11™ Lifeline, and updated Whitney 2.0™ Pack. In addition, CMC plans to demo an exciting new device at their booth that is the latest evolution in rope rescue hardware.

ATOM™ Harness

The most comfortable harness ever developed by CMC, the ATOM is the culmination of stripping harness design down to the basics and reimagining a performance-enhancing tool for rescue and rope access. In designing the ATOM Class II and Class III Harnesses, CMC has incorporated years of feedback from the CMC school instructors and customers in the field.  In addition, knowledge was gained from rigorous testing, rebuilding from the ground up a harness that improves the wearer’s safety, comfort and workflow efficiency in all the ways you cannot see, but feel.

The ATOM will also enable users to tailor the harness to exactly what they need through the newly developed Build Your Own™ Online Tool. This new tool allows users to customize an ATOM harness or to build their own from scratch.

Flash.2™ Escape Anchor and the LEVR™ Escape System

The newly designed Flash.2 Escape Anchor adds additional strength, safety and efficiency to the LEVR Escape System. The new anchor is UL certified to NFPA 1983 - Escape for all foreseeable loading scenarios, including tip loading the hook.

G11™ Lifeline, CMC’s 11 mm NFPA, G-rated Rope Made from Traditional Fibers

This low-stretch Kernmantle rope constructed with a polyester sheath and nylon core offers maximum strength in a lightweight, low volume and easy to handle rope.  G11 Lifeline is ideal for rope rescue and rope access operations providing enhanced safety, performance and superior knotability.

Whitney 2.0™ Pack

The updated Whitney Pack in this 2.0 version includes upgraded storage capacity and organization, and a more durable fabric in a new color.  Designed by rescuers for rescuers, this is the perfect SAR-ready pack. Large enough to carry gear and provisions to support you in the field for a multi-day mission, the Whitney 2.0 contains plenty of pockets and features to keep everything well organized.

Along with this new line of products, customer favorites such as CMC’s MPD™, CSR2 Pulley System™, Arizona Vortex, AZTEK Proseries® System, and the Harken™ Industrial Lokhead Winch will be available for hands-on demos. Visitors to FDIC 2019 can stop by the CMC Booth #1532 to learn more about all their rescue products and educational resources, demo their gear, and chat with sales reps and CMC school instructors. Spokane County (WA) Invests $50K in Fire Apparatus Purchase

The district hasn’t owned a ladder truck of any kind before, but the purchase was necessary to maintain the district’s fire insurance rating, said Fire Chief Randy Johnson. “It’s a good addition to the capacity of the district,” he said.

The 1995 Simon Duplex truck was purchased from the Yakima Fire Department for $50,000. It has a platform on the end of a 102-foot ladder where firefighters can stand and direct water on a fire below. Captain Megan Hill joked that it was a “one owner, low miles” purchase. Despite its age, it has just under 40,000 miles on it and still has plenty of life, Hill said.

Gainesville Fire-Rescue (TX) Fire Chief Updates on Fire Station Construction

Ground was broken on the 8,000-square-foot facility in January. It will replace the 100-year-old two-story building at 115 E. Pecan St. that currently serves as Fire Station No. 3.

During a construction update presented to members of the Gainesville City Council on Tuesday, April 2, Twiner said one of the reasons fire department administration, as well as city leaders, decided to build the new station was limited access to overhead doors. He said a lot of their engines had to be custom-built.

“Being two-story it was a safety risk, as well,” Twiner said of the oldest city-owned building.
