E-ONE Delivers 95-Foot Platform to the Boston (MA) Fire Department

OCALA, FL—E-ONE, a subsidiary of REV Group and a leading manufacturer of fire apparatus, delivers a 95-Platform truck to the Boston Fire Department.

The E-ONE 95-Platform was customized to fit the specific needs of Boston Fire Department. From the heavy-duty tapered steel channel front bumper to the shortened rear overhang, the truck has been designed for the tight city streets of Boston.

Lieutenant James B. O’Brien of the Boston Fire Department spoke about the challenges of finding the right truck: “The sometimes difficult-to-achieve goal of getting a truck that works reliably, day-in and day-out, while increasing our capability on the fire ground, has been realized in these trucks.”

The features of the E-ONE 95-Platform include:

  • E-ONE Cyclone® cab with a narrow body style of approximately 96” wide
  • Cummins ISX 500 HP engine and Allison transmission
  • Integral torque box chassis for solid foundation
  • Three-section extruded aluminum 92-foot vertical reach platform with tapered corners
  • 2.5 to 1 structural safety factor – exceeding NFPA requirements by 25%
  • Advanced Aerial Control System with body protection
  • 13’8” jack spread from crisscross under-slung outriggers
  • Shortened rear body overhang with inset turntable access steps
  • Heavy-duty 4” square tube rear bumper

“A unique feature that has greatly improved deploy-ability on the fireground, is the jacking system, and the aerial itself,” said Lieutenant O’Brien. “With narrow parameters for set up – like parked cars on narrow streets, we need aerials that can be relied on to get into operation every time. This aerial system can perform the long and low angle ‘throws’ typical of use in many neighborhoods, at full extension. Such capability represents a big increase in our ability to use it at fires. And that’s when we need it to perform.”

“It’s exciting to work with a city like Boston to take elements from their Metro 100 and apply them to the 95-Platform,” said Joe Hedges, E-ONE Product Manager. “This is a great product for city applications due to its physical size, maneuverability and jack spread of only 13’8”.”

FoxFury Introduces the Breakthrough® BTS Right Angle Light

Firefighter with BTS Right Angle Light

FoxFury Lighting Solutions introduces its new Breakthrough® BTS Right Angle Light. This light is the company's response to customer requests for a smaller, brighter, and lighter weight right angle light at a lower price. It is primarily targeted to firefighters but is useful in all applications for search and inspection. The BTS is The Just Right Angle Light, combining performance, compact design, and durability.

Breakthrough BTS Right Angle Light
Breakthrough BTS Right Angle Light

The ultra-durable, low profile BTS provides a 400 lumen beam for cutting through smoke and illuminating the immediate surrounding area. This compact and versatile lighting tool runs on (4) AA batteries and has a stainless-steel clip for hands-free use. It is available now in black or black and yellow for $99.99.

The key features of the BTS are:

SMO-KUT Technology
The BTS boasts a powerful smoke cutting beam to better see obstacles and objects. The light also puts out a wide halo or ring of outer light that illuminates the surrounding area to see the bigger picture.

Low Profile Design
The BTS's low profile lets users move more freely. Its compact size makes it convenient to wear on a jacket, belt, or turnout gear without getting in the way.

Durability
The BTS is tough enough for the toughest jobs. It is impact resistant and meets NFPA fire resistant requirements. Its waterproof design allows it to be decontaminated and used in all-weather conditions.

"The BTS is the most durable and powerful right-angle light I've ever used," said Lt. Ryan Pennington from Charleston, West Virginia. Pennington has used the BTS in dozens of live burns and training scenarios without incident. He stopped using his traditional box light because the beam and halo of the BTS is just as powerful in a more compact light.

"We're excited to offer the BTS light," said Antonio Cugini, Director of Marketing at FoxFury Lighting Solutions. "We feel it's the right combination of power, size and price. It's held up to some rigorous testing and received rave reviews. We know it's going to save time and lives."

The BTS is backed by FoxFury's Limited Lifetime Warranty. It is now available through FoxFury.com and FoxFury authorized dealers.

At FoxFury Lighting Solutions, we create premium lighting tools that shine brightly in the most extreme environments to keep people safe. Our Xtremium™ products focus on durability and speed, providing unique solutions and possibilities for first responders, enterprise professionals, and videographers in over 65 countries. SVI Trucks Adds OK Fire Apparatus Dealer

SVI Trucks

SVI Trucks has added Oklahoma apparatus dealer Heartland Fire Trucks to SVI’s highly selective dealer network, which is made up of only 25 dealers across the nation, each expert in the custom-build process. As one of the nation’s leading custom fire apparatus manufacturers, SVI Trucks is best known for its rescue trucks, command vehicles and hazmat units.

Heartland owners Mark Richardson and Jeff Davenport bring a combined 50-plus years of service as firefighters in Oklahoma. “Together, we have been selling fire equipment to departments across Oklahoma for more than 40 years,” Richardson said. “In all of that time, it’s been one of our dreams to work with SVI Trucks because they bring a reputation that few manufacturers can match.”

Heartland Fire Trucks is located in Marlow, Oklahoma, just an hour south of Oklahoma City and an hour east of Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Surrounded by such diverse terrain and varied population, Heartland is prime to sell SVI Trucks’ full lineup of apparatus, which not only includes light, medium and heavy rescues, but also brush trucks, rescue pumpers, wildland tankers and more.

“Our dealer partnerships are very important to us here at SVI Trucks, especially given the custom nature of our trucks. We know Heartland is going to be a great addition to the SVI Trucks dealer team,” said Bob Sorensen, Vice President of SVI Trucks Sales.

To contact Heartland, call 580-467-4199 or email heartlandfiretrucks@gmail.com. For SVI Trucks full dealer lineup, visit www.svitrucks.com/find-a-dealer.
