Henderson (AR) VFD Commemorates Fire Truck

According to Henderson volunteer firefighter Cheri Smith, the pumper truck was sitting in the garage of the broker who sold the truck to the department, waiting to be transported by flatbed to Henderson, when two planes were deliberately flown into the World Trade Center.

The broker immediately turned the truck over to a station in NYC to be used until the department could receive a new pumper.

This past Saturday, the members of the HVFD hosted an open house at the main station on U.S. Highway 62 and at that time commemorated the 37-year-old truck, recognizing its service following Sept. 11.

TFT Releases SHO-FLOW® 1 Flow Meter Series

VALPARAISO, IN—TFT’s SHO-FLOW® 1 Flow Meter series provides accurate, real-time information for use in testing, training, and firefighting operations about water flow rates on a single hoseline. When installed, the device generates power using water flow to run itself, so no batteries are needed to operate. Power is harvested from an internal moving turbine and will transmit flow rates to any smart device via Bluetooth. The SHO-FLOW is simple, reliable, and easy to use. The new SHO-FLOW 1 is 1.5 inches (38 mm), and a 2.5-inch (63 mm) version will be released later this year.

The SHO-FLOW 1comes in in at 6.1 inches (155 mm) long and weighs 2.6 pounds (1.2 kg). It requires no batteries and comes factory-calibrated. Flow rates can be viewed on any Android or Apple smart device via TFT’s free app, which is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. The flow meter can be easily connected in line with any size hose that has 1.5-inch couplings.

Since flow readings are transmitted to a linked smart device, the unit is rugged and convenient. There is no worry about display screens being damaged in extreme fire service use, no batteries to monitor for operation, and you don’t need to be next to the unit to obtain flow information.

The SHO-FLOW 1 is accurate with minimal friction loss and can be used with water or a water/foam mix. Its flow range is 50 to 300 gpm (200 to 1,150 l/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 300 psi. Inlet/outlets are available in NH, NPSH, and BSP styles. The SHO-FLOW 1 has an introductory list price of $995.00 USD and is available for order through TFT distributors worldwide.
