The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Meredith (NH) Welcomes Fire Apparatus

 
 
Built on a Ford 550 chassis, the new piece of apparatus can provide access for up to five firefighters, along with water or other equipment, to the fire scene. Money for the new acquisition came largely from a FEMA grant that covered 95 percent — or $148,572 — of the truck’s cost. The town provided a 5 percent matching grant of $7,428, according to Fire Chief Ken Jones.

Fire Apparatus Overturns in Kanawha County (WV)

 
 

According to dispatchers, one of the fire engines with the Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department overturned just off Route 119 on Coal River Road around 1 a.m.  

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Fire Engine Crashes En Route To Fire, Road Closed

Fire crews say the truck went too close to the edge of the road and turned over onto a guardrail. A couple hours later, the guardrail collapsed and the truck flipped over a small embankment.

No one was inside the truck when it flipped over, according to fire officials. No firefighters were injured in the accident.

Crews say the firetruck is a total loss.

PIERCE MANUFACTURING INC.

PIERCE MANUFACTURING INC., an Oshkosh Corporation company, has delivered five Pierce® Enforcer® pumpers and an Ascendant® 107-foot aerial ladder to the Mobile (AL) Fire and Rescue Department. The delivery represents the first Pierce apparatus to be put into service for the department. Mobile customized the engines to be compact apparatus with short wheelbases, allowing for greater maneuverability to fit into tight stations. Other features include high-visibility scene lighting, TAK-4® independent front suspension, 500-gallon water tanks, and Waterous 2,000-gpm pumps.




CLARION UX FIRE & RESCUE GROUP is introducing a new key buyer program at FDIC International (April 8-13, 2019). The key buyer program called “MATCH!” connects decision making fire and rescue service personnel with exhibitors who provide products and services that address the immediate needs of their departments and the communities they protect. Qualified attending participants for FDIC International’s MATCH! programs will include authorized buyers made up of high-ranking fire officers, committee members, and chairs with purchasing authority and power who have demonstrated an immediacy of purchase. In exchange for participating in the MATCH! program, these key buyers will receive an elevated attending package with exclusive perks, privileges, and services. This will include exclusive access to innovative matchmaking technology and a personal program manager, Chris Marinaro, who will assist them with securing prearranged meetings with exhibiting companies based on mutually matched interests.




What started as an order for a few ROSENBAUER AMERICA airport rescue firefighting (ARFF) units has ballooned into an order for 71 ARFF units for the United States Air Force (USAF). Rosenbauer America is scheduled to build 32 Panther 6x6 units, of which three will also have the Rosenbauer Stinger high-reach extendable turret piercing nozzle. The remaining 39 ARFF apparatus will be Panther 4x4 units. The total contract awarded is nearly $50 million. Some of the features of these ARFF units for the USAF will include ultra-high-pressure pumps from Waterous, twin disc transmissions, and Volvo D16 Tier IV inline six-cylinder 16.1-liter engines.




VALOR FIRST RESPONDER SEATING

VALOR FIRST RESPONDER SEATING launched its first cab configurator, allowing users to pick their own seats in a generic cab configuration.
