Salamanca (NY) Fire Department Seeks Grant for Fire Equipment

The Common Council Wednesday authorized the submission of a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to request funds to replace the fire department’s breathing air compressor, cascade and fill station.  

The total cost of the equipment is $49,999 with the city responsible for $2,380 and the rest covered by the grant. Bocharski said the $2,380 would be coming out of his budget.In addition to the city department, Bocharski said surrounding fire companies use the system as well.

Wilburn (AR) Fire Department Needs New Fire Apparatus

The Wilburn Fire Department covers 55 square miles in Cleburne County and District 1 receives hundreds of calls every year.

Combined Fire and EMS your looking at between 250 and 300 calls," Assistant Fire Chief Joanna Vaughan said.

The department relies on a 1978 engine to do most of the work.  

This truck has been our number one attack pumper for the last 16 years," Vaughan.The truck made it's final stop while covering a large structure fire a few weeks ago leaving the department wondering what will happen next.
