Abilene Regional Airport's fire station to be renovated soon

The Abilene City Council may approve a contract with architectural firm Corgan to redesign the airport’s fire station.

"The cost of that is about $151,978. It's being funded with 90 percent FAA funds and 10 percent from the 2015 bonds, Proposition 9," said Michael Rice, Abilene's Assistant City Manager.

Photos and Story by Bob Bartosz

The Nashville (NC) Fire Department placed a new 2018 Pierce rescue-pumper into service on after a truck housing ceremony. The ceremony consisted of a wet down and a ritual of pushing the truck into the fire station. The ceremony was attended by a large number of fire department members and retired members and their families. Nashville’s mayor and full council members were also in attendance. Chief Chris Joyner thanked the committee that developed the specifications for its hard work that spanned four years. He also thanked the town officials for their support in purchasing the new truck.

The rescue-pumper features a 2018 Enforcer cab and chassis, 1,500-gpm pump, 1,000-gallon tank, and onboard Husky foam system.
