The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Sanford (ME) Acquires New 'Quint' Fire Truck

The quint sports a 95-foot aerial device and 200 feet of ground ladders, he said. It can can pump 2,000 gallons of water a minute and can carry 300 gallons.

The new truck weighs 80,000 pounds, and is powered by a 525 horsepower Detroit diesel engine.

It replaces the 1998 Engine 1 and the 1988 Ladder 37, the ladder truck was purchased used.

South (PA) Whitehall To Purchase Three Fire Department Vehicles

The proposal will provide a new fire chief vehicle — a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe —  to both Cetronia Fire Company and Greenawalds Fire Company, and pay off the balance owed by Woodlawn Fire Department for a Chevrolet Tahoe that was purchased last year. The move by South Whitehall Commissioners also includes the purchase of a utility body pickup truck to be used as a quick response service vehicle for Greenawalds Fire Company.

The total cost for the three vehicles and the owed balances is $265,194.51.

The proposal is part of a larger plan that transitions ownership of fire department vehicles to the township, according to Commissioner David Bond.

Mold Found In Ductwork Of Florence Fire Station; Still No AC For Firemen

Last Friday, the station's air conditioning unit went out. It took the new AC unit a few days to get to the station because it's a commercial AC unit, according to fire officials.

Wednesday, they went to install the new unit only to find mold in the ductwork. Now all of the ductwork will have to be replaced before they can install the new unit, officials told WAAY 31 that could take a few days.

Firemen at station five are currently staying in a large tent in the station. The tent has portable AC units in it to keep the firemen cooled down
