High-Water Rescue Vehicles Delivered to Liberty County (TX)

After a record six federally-declared catastrophes in the last couple of years, commissioners were fed up with being ill-prepared for rescues.  

With that in mind, they sought out some high-water vehicles to help with rescues of residents who might get caught in flash-flooding around the county.

On Monday, May 14, a small convoy of military vehicles was delivered to the Precinct 1 yard in Raywood.

Fire Department Gets Rescue Truck Specifically Designed For Situations Firefighters Encounter Locally

Brad Roberson, the department's chief of operations, said the $520,000 truck plus extras came out to about $560,000. Local fire officials spent more than a year working with the supplier on a design especially suited to the type of calls they get in Rome and Floyd County, he said, and the hoses, nozzles and appliances are state-of-the art.

City commissioners and other officials were guided around the truck, with explanations given on the variety of equipment neatly stored behind its panels. Oxygen, trench rescue devices, a power unit, rappelling gear and extrication tools are among the bounty.

PCSO's big asset: Truck to aid in search and rescue

 If the MRAP vehicle recently acquired by PCSO looks like an expensive item meant for war, that’s because it was. MRAP stands for mine-resistant ambush protected, and the 2009 truck was, in fact, used by the Army in such places as Afghanistan. It was designed specifically to withstand roadside bomb attacks and ambushes, but in its new Phillips County role, the truck will serve as an all-weather, all-terrain search and rescue tool.

Ccia Debuts Brand New Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Truck

The custom-built truck is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, off-roading tires and an extendable turret that can pierce through airplanes in the event of a fire.

The Public Safety Division of the CCIA explained why the new technology is helping them offer safety and security for their passengers.
