The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Tafd Could Soon Be Purchasing Three New Fire Trucks

Fire officials say the trucks would replace older equipment that the city will then sell as surplus.

If approved, Station 1 will receive a new ladder truck, and Stations 3 and 5 will receive new pumper trucks.

“If we get these three trucks approved and purchased, then our fleet of trucks will be in pretty good shape for years to come,” explained Chief David Fletcher.

Oakwood Road (WV) Fire Station Nearing Completion

Ray Denuzzo, superintendent of Wolf Creek Contracting, said his crew should be done with their portion of the $1.3 million project within two or three weeks. Wolf Creek is building all but the upstairs firefighters’ living quarters in the new station. The city will finish the living quarters in house, Molgaard said.

“We’re pretty close to what we have to finish,” Denuzzo said last week.

Wolf Creek started on the 52-by-42-square-foot building Sept. 11. The weather caused some delays with the work, Denuzzo said. Construction crews couldn’t work because of rain or cold on about 50 days, he said.
