Oshkosh Delivers Three Striker 6x6 ARFF Vehicles to Kotoka International Airport in Ghana

Oshkosh Airport Products has delivered three Oshkosh® Striker® 6x6 aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) located in Accra, the capital of Greater Accra in the West African country of Ghana. Their arrival was celebrated with a traditional rollout ceremony at the airport.

OSHKOSH, WI—Oshkosh Airport Products, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) company, has delivered three Oshkosh® Striker® 6x6 aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) located in Accra, the capital of Greater Accra in the West African country of Ghana. Their arrival was celebrated with a traditional rollout ceremony at the airport, held in conjunction with the African Airshow, the First Annual Aerospace and Aviation Exhibition of West Africa.

“We congratulate Kotoka International Airport’s investment in their emergency response capabilities with these three Oshkosh Striker vehicles,” said Erik Lampe, Oshkosh Airport Products vice president and general manager. “We are proud to be working with the Ghana Airports Company Limited to bring these trucks to West Africa, and we were honored to have Oshkosh representatives in attendance at the ceremony to celebrate the new trucks and the professionals that use them.”

Integrated on the trucks is the Oshkosh-exclusive Snozzle® high reach extendable turret (HRET) with a hardened carbide steel tip, a perforated nozzle, and a forward-looking infrared camera.

Each of the apparatus is equipped with Oshkosh TAK-4® all-wheel independent suspension for a smooth ride and off-road capabilities. The firefighting system includes an 11,356-liter (3,000-gallon) water tank, a 1,590-liter (420-gallon) foam cell, and a 249-kilogram (550-pound) dry chemical system for multiple agent fire suppression capabilities. The engine power pack components are readily accessed through walk-in doors—on either side of the engine compartment—for easier servicing.

The three Oshkosh Striker vehicles undertook a 10,000-km, month-long land and sea journey to Ghana in September. “This delivery serves as a reminder of the global presence of our Oshkosh Striker ARFF vehicles,” added Lampe. “Our products meet the needs of airports around the world, and we maintain a knowledgeable and reliable network to support our customers in their critical mission.”

The Oshkosh Striker, available in a 4x4, a 6x6, and a new 8x8 configuration, features advanced safety systems, innovative fire suppression technology, chassis performance, and reliability and durability.
