Wilmington (DE) Fire Apparatus Ready for Replacement

The city's apparatus are working without complaint but a majority have passed the 10-year standard for replacement, according to the fire chief. Getting started now means avoiding one big bill.

The city will go to the bond market in February to borrow $1.25 million for the ladder truck and for another $1.1 million to renovate fire station. The city also will ask the general assembly for $1.6 million to buy the two engines, according to city officials.
