The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

3rd pumper added to Streator Fire fleet

This is the department's third pumper and the new truck can hold 1,000 gallons of water, with a pumping capacity of 1,500 gallons per minute, according to Fire Chief Gary Bird.

Paradise (CA) Gets A New Fire Engine

The new truck cost about a half a million dollars and will replace an old engine as well as an old reserve engine.

A Type 1 engine can go to everything from wildfires to rescues and other incidents and will be an overall better fit for the community.

"The engine is lower profile and its angle of approach and departure will make it much more able to access areas that are difficult to access with older engines," said David Hawks, the Paradise Fire Chief.

The Blue Lake (CA) Fire District has taken delivery of a custom HME rescue-pumper. This truck was built on an HME 1871-SFOMFD wide featuring an upgraded Sheppard steering system for superior control. This truck has also been upgraded with larger hosewell storage capacity, a second set of valve controls on the right side of the pump panel, as well as a reinforced front bumper extension for towing of a disabled vehicle.

The storage compartments, ladder systems, and LED body lights have all been custom ordered to meet the needs of the Blue Lake Fire District.
