Hamilton (OH) Takes Delivery of New Ambulance

The new house that the department seeks is designed to reach a wider age range, adding middle school students and the aging adult population as target audiences.

Fire officials are pleased with adding the new ambulance to its fleets because it has several safety features that will help first responders.

Safety features on the new unit include a Stryker power cot and load system, proven to reduce back injuries for paramedics, according to Mercer.

Fire Apparatus Out of Action in Aberdeen (United Kingdom)

Firefighters have raised concerns since their repair workshop was transferred from the fire service’s Aberdeen headquarters at Anderson Drive to the asset resource centre at Claverhouse in Dundee in 2016.  

The move followed the decision to relocate the city’s control room, with calls also now being handled in Tayside.

The fire service has stressed that mechanics are also based in Inverness, ensuring four mobile mechanics available to work in the north-east.

W.S Darley Bringing the Future of Technology to FDIC International

W.S Darley, a proud manufacturer and supplier of industry-leading pumps, apparatus, water systems, and robotic solutions, will be showcasing several cutting-edge technologies including the FLAIM System. The FLAIM System is a Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality tool that emulates real-life firefighting scenarios using a headset and haptics in the equipment. Firefighters using the FLAIM System will be able to compare their performance to other FLAIM System users. The system will be on display and demos will be open to participants at W.S Darley’s booth #3721 at FDIC International 2018.

FDIC will be debuting the Emerging Technologies Summit and Pavilion sponsored in part by W.S Darley. The Pavilion will be a place for exhibitors to showcase the newest techniques and technologies in the fire industry. The Pavilion will be open from April 25th to 27th with sessions discussing Augmented reality, Robot-Assisted Emergency Response, SMART Technologies, and more.

W.S Darley will also be deploying an FDIC first Drone Cage. W.S Darley will be operating a variety of drones including the DJI Matrice 210, the Yuneec H520, and the Phantom 4 Pro inside the cage. The drones will be equipped with Thermal and Zoom cameras which will be used to demonstrate practical use in the fire industry. The drones will be using Drone Sense to stream their video to nearby monitors, giving the audience a better sense of the drone’s capabilities. Darley drone experts will be on hand answering questions related to training, department grants, and what a drone can do for a fire department.

HAAS Alert: Digital Lights & Sirens will also be on display in W.S Darley’s booth. HAAS Alert is a device that attaches to a fire apparatus when the apparatus activates its lights HAAS Alert begins broadcasting a signal to Waze motorists. Drivers using Waze will receive a message when the Fire Apparatus approaches and warns users if an Apparatus is on-scene. The device is seeing support from FAMA, NFPA, NSC, and TSR.

FDIC’s Exhibit Hall opens April 26th at 11 am Est in. W.S Darley’s booth is #3721 they will have all the technology above and more on display.
