The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Donaldsonville (LA) Voted for New Fire Station

Almost ninety percent of voters agreed with the renewal which will support the building of the new fire station and provide funds for personnel training and equipment for firefighters.

Fire Chief James McDonald said, the current firehouse was built in the 1960's and does not support the fire department's needs.

The new station seen in the rendering attached to this story would be bigger, measuring 9,523 square feet.

Police: Explosive Device Dropped Off at Grants Pass (OR) Fire Station

As of 12:01 p.m., East Park Street was closed between Parkdale Drive and Golden Park. East Park at the Baker Park entrance was also closed, along with the Grants Pass Parkway southbound at M Street.  

The Oregon State Police bomb squad was deployed to the area.

Milton (GA) Firefighters Get Bullet Resistant Fire Equipment

"Last year's incident in Las Vegas reinforced the need to protect our personnel during an active shooter situation," said Milton Fire Chief Robert Edgar. "We need to respond to the injured quickly and in doing so, we need to know our firefighters are protected."  

With a rise in mass casualty events, there is an increased need for rapid triage and treatment of patients before law enforcement can completely secure the situation. More than $19,000 in custom equipment will provide the added protection firefighters need while responding in an active environment. The special design increases personal safety, but allows the flexibility firefighters need when providing emergency medical services to the injured.
