The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Gary (IN) May Get New Fire Station, Fire Equipment

The city's fire department plans to add five new fire engines to its fleet and could also start construction on a new fire station this year. The City Council has approved a resolution calling for the appropriation of $2.3 million for the lease/purchase of the engines.
The fire department currently has seven engines that are between 17 and 26 years old and in disrepair, while another three are relatively new, officials said. According to Fire Chief Paul Bradley, five of the older fire engines will be replaced with the new engines.

Four Injured in Charlotte Ambulance Accident

Four people were injured in a crash involving an ambulance in west Charlotte Monday afternoon. Medic says it happened around 12:20 p.m. as they were responding to a 911 emergency traffic call. The ambulance and another vehicle collided on Ashley Road at Wilkinson Boulevard.

FBI Investigates Milwaukee Fire Department Station 29

The Milwaukee Division of the FBI has announced an investigation into Milwaukee Fire Department Station 29 on the city's south side. As a result of this, MFD officials are launching their own investigation -- looking into any possible employee misconduct.
According to MFD officials, around 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 10th, a search warrant was executed at Milwaukee Fire Station 29 -- located at 3529 S. 84th Street (near 84th and Morgan). The search warrant was executed to "ensure compliance with the federal jurisdiction and the ongoing investigation."
